Our Goal - To create a model forest as an ongoing educational project where each child is given 12 trees to plant and care for. The trees are being planted in an effort to help reduce soil erosion and the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions in the Darkhan area and under the Kyoto Accord.

To create a model forest as an ongoing educational project where each child is given 12 trees to plant and care for. The children then own those trees and become responsible for them for life. The trees are being planted in an effort to help reduce soil erosion and the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions in the Darkhan area and under the Kyoto Accord.

Children die from lung tumors caused by the fly ash created by coal fired generators that power Darkhan's industries. One ton of fly ash equals one ton of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

We feel that the new forest is very important to the Darkhan area. It will provide a rich, natural and ecological wealth. The forest will keep the rivers' water resources, protect soil from erosion, soften the harsh climate, absorb greenhouse gas produced by the Russian built coal fired industry and establish a favorable living environment for animals, plant and microorganisms, and help to hold down the permafrost.
